TRUE

Two weeks ago I had the pleasure to see my muse Solange. As stated in a previous post I love her!! Not only did I see my love, I also had the pleasure of meeting my other loves/ best friends (in my head), Kevin and Maekel of The Skorpion Show on YouTube (watch them here).

Solange just released a new album TRUE (get it on iTunes). Being at a Solange concert is an experience. It was filled with a “different kind of energy”. While I do not partake it that kind of “energy”, the music puts you mind and spirit in a relaxed, calming mood. I really enjoyed myself.

Meeting my other loves Kevin and Makael was also an experience. I ran into Kevin at the bar, of course, he was soooo friendly, humble and extremely funny. It was like running into someone I have known for years.

I wasn’t sure about meeting Makael, he comes off a little stand-off-ish on video, but I wasn’t leaving the venue until I saw him. I waited until the very end and caught up.with him at coat check. He too was very humble and friendly and was more then willing to take a picture.

All in all, I had the chance to see three of my favorite people in one night. What a great way to close out my year! Thank you Philly.

*Next month I will be doing some kind of give away for my birthday, stay tuned*

Enjoy you weekend.. Toodles 🙂

Happy Holidays…

Last week I celebrated the holidays with my girls. Nothing better then food, drinks and good conversation. Its been a while since we all got together and had a chance to “catch up”. This is the time of year to put the past in the past and work hard toward an amazing future. I am truly looking foward to the New Year and all that God has in store for me, my family and my friends. I have some amazing friends, and if I have never said it before or I never say it again, I am thankful and blessed to have all of you in my life.

My Last Birchbox

As stated in a previous post, this is my last Birchbox, not all things last forever. I cant say that I will honestly miss Birchbox, but I will miss receiving a package every month with different surprises in each box. As stated before I do not feel that Birchbox shows diversity.  So I am still on the hunt for a new monthly subscription.

Clockwise:

Kiehl’s: Creme de Corps– I have tried this light moisturizer and I think I like it. There is nothing particularly special a about it, especially for the price, but it is soft and rich feeling. I recommend it if you like to waste money on lotions, other then that you can do without it.

Masqueology: Revitalizing Eye– This under-eye gel mask will de-puff and brighten your eye area.  I will definitely be trying this product, probably January 1st, after the partying.

Give: Birchbox Pouch– this little package is to encourage you to give to someone during this holiday season. “Instructions: Choose someone special. Empty pouch. Load it back up with something that will make that special someone smile.”

Birchbox Holiday 2012 Gift Guide– This gift guide was loaded with gift suggestions to give the girl/guy/ friends in your life.  There were different price points to fit everyone budget.

Masqueology: 7D Day and Night Cream– This day and night cream is said to increase the production of vitamin D and stimulate collagen. Not sure if I will be testing this product.

Masqueology: Masque Cleanse with Bubbly Technology– As a gentle cleaner also exfoliates, with anti-oxidants this cleanser helps detoxify your skin with refining your pores, as well as brightens the overall appearance of your skin.

stila: all over shimmer liquid luminizer–  I am still figuring out how I will be using this product. This all over shimmer can be added to your cheekbones or de’colletage, or can be mixed to your foundation for an all-over glow.  We will see how this works for me.

MCMC Frangrances: Phoenix– This Brooklyn-based perfumer created a warm feminine scent that I am truly in love with.  This perfumer is so delicate and but powerful, I cant get enough of it.  Love, love, love it!!!

Trend Alert: Grey lipstick has been popping up everywhere, its not anything that I am willing to try but some people are crazy about it.  MAC has released Gray Friday.  I’m assuming the name is a play on Nicki Minaj’s Pink Friday by MAC. But anyway Grey is the new Pink, not according to me, but to some people it is! If you decide to pick up a gray lippie let me know now it works out for you, comment below.

**I know I have been slacking with posting pics of my OOTD. But the next post will surely be one. Stay tuned.  Thanks for stopping by, don’t forget to comment below.**

Toodles 🙂

Coming to an End…

Truthfully I didn’t want to post this Birchbox and with different things going on in my life, this post was delayed.  I was terribly disappointed with last month’s Birchbox.  I had a choice of the regular Birchbox, or the Goop Birchbox, I opted for the Goop Birchbox, terrible mistake.  Birchbox sent out an email asking its members if they would like the Goop Birchbox for the Month of November, or if they wanted to get their regular box.  They did not give members much information about Goop, other then that they incorporate all 5 senses.  I figured why not try something new, smh.

Clockwise:

LUNA: Lemon Zest Bar- When I first saw this little treat I was excited because it seemed to be something healthy and have lemon flavoring. When I open the packaged I was not as excited but I still was willing to give it a chance.  When I bit into the LUNA bar I quickly spit it out. The LUNA bar was not to my liking. It taste dry and like cardboard, end up throwing it away.

Malin+Goetz: Bergamot Body Wash- This foaming body wash synthesizes natural bergamot with amino acid-based cleansing agents.  It is expected to balance all skin types especially sensitive and eczema prone skin.  I did not use this product because I had an issue with their other product, which I will explain later in the post., but its nothing against their products.

Ouidad Curl Quencher: Hydrafusion Intense Curl Cream- The Curl Cream is said to hydrate and leave curls defined.  I haven’t had a chance to use this product, because I am attached to the products I already used.  If it isn’t broke, I won’t fix it.

Sprout Lip Balm: Truly All-natural Cocoa Lip Balm- I refused to use this lip balm, even when my lips were chapped, I don’t like the smell of cocoa, therefore I could not put it on my lips. 😦

Malin+Goetz: Grapefruit Face Cleanser- This product was the downfall of my week at the time.  It was not the fault of the product itself but the fault of my own.  I used the product one night, and the next morning my whole face broke out, I soon found myself in the dermatologist office.  I had recently learned that I have an allergy to zesty things, I am not able to eat an orange, but I can drink orange juice, strange I know.  Do to my allergic reaction I was not able to give a full review of this product, but the product is said to hydrate and protect skin from daily pollutants.

Super Goop!: City Sunscreen Serum- After my last debacle, with product above, I refused to use anything else on my face or skin for fear that I may breakout again.  So this product I was also not able to test.  The reviews I read for this product say that this lightweight product was a good addition to your daily routine, and that it works well under foundation.

After testing this box, I decided that Birch Box was no longer for me, I can no longer test random products on my skin. Also, I am not sure that Birchbox is geared their boxes to please all ethnicities.  My next Birchbox post will be my last.  I am now looking into other boxes that may peek my interest.  Two that I am currently looking into is BeautyArmy.com and Ipsy.com.  If you know anything about these subscriptions or others comment below with reviews or suggestions.
