On Monday I received my October Birchbox. Again, I was excited to see what I got in this months box, but I was kind of disappointed.
The Fall Lookbook– A list of fall trend, which included trying a bright eye shadow, matching a bright eyeliner with a color you may be wearing one day, trying different types of ponytails and different color nail polishes (cobalt is a big color this season). I would like to find a beautiful cobalt nail polish or scarf for this season, let me know if you know where I can find either one.
Madewell– A coupon to use at Madewell. (I will be giving this to my friend Shaniece, I know she will enjoy this!) Check out Madewell.com, they have some great items.
Birchbox Postcard– This month marks Birchbox’s one year anniversary. Congratulations Birchbox!!
Mighty Leaf Tea Company: Teas– A natural blend of herbs that are made to relax you. I’m looking forward to trying one of these tonight, I need something to help me unwind.
Youngblood: Mineral Primer– A clear gel primer with prevents oily skin and “makeup meltdowns”. I am looking forward to testing this product, I am a little skeptical about trying new things when I already have something that works, but I don’t mind testing out a new primer. I currently use Milk of Magnesia, yes, the medicine for tummy aches, but it works like a charm, mattifes (not a word, but you get it) when applying makeup, and prevents oil from forming while my make up is on.
Nexxus: Pro-Mend Split End Treatment Systems (on the bottom of the box)- I have never tried Nexxus hair products, never thought their products were geared toward women of color. I am not sure if I will be using this product at all. 😦
Vasanti: Brighten Up! Enzymatic Face Rejuvenator– This product is said to exfoliate and brighten dull skin. I am looking forward to texting this product as well, I am all for a natural (99% natural, their words not mine) that will brighten my skin!
twistband: Brichbox Custom Lace Hair Tie (hanging on the Vasanti bottle)-When I first saw this gray thing I had no idea what it was. When I realized it was a hair tie I was completely confused, I am not sure why it is tied like that on the end, and why they would expect someone to want to wear this, let alone pay for it (A set of 6 for $14, they have got to be kidding.) The hair tie looks like I took the elastic out of my sweatpants and tied it together because I could find my hair tie. SMH #FAIL.
Color Club: Status Update Nail Polish– I must admit, I was disappointed when I saw this brand of nail polish in my box, while I love nail polish, I have had bad experiences with this brand in the past. I am happy to say that I have tested this charcoal colored nail polish, and to my surprise I was absolutely impressed. The color goes on think and keeps its shiny luster, it doesn’t appear to have an issue with chipping. If time permits I will be putting this nail polish to use tonight. I am absolutely in love with the color.
